YouthBuild
BCFS' YouthBuild Kerrville program is a full-time opportunity to help young adults earn their GED or high school diploma while getting hands-on training to enter the workplace, start a career in construction, or begin college.
Participating youth will develop leadership skills, build lasting friendships, achieve a job or apprenticeship placement, and earn a construction certificate that will make them highly employable. Plus, youth learn the importance of giving back to the community. Strong emphasis is placed on leadership development, community service, and the creation of a positive mini-community of adults and youth committed to success.
Youth participating in Youth Build:
- Earn a GED or high school diploma
- Learn Green-Building Construction Skills
- Become Certified
- Get Paid to Work
- Give Back to the Community
Youth eligibility requirements:
- Youth between the ages of 16-24
- Struggling with low-income, foster care, juvenile delinquency or family incarceration, migrant status, or a disability
- Have not completed a GED or high school diploma
- Interested in learning about construction
Youth interested in participating in the program should apply in-person at the Kerrville Transition Center.
Since 1994, more than 60,000 young people have helped rebuild their communities, transform their lives, and create more than 15,000 units of affordable housing. There are more than 245 YouthBuild programs in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
