BCFS Health and Human Services-Harlingen operates two life-changing programs for children, youth and families in Harlingen and across Cameron County:
Project HOPES: Healthy Outcomes through Prevention & Early Support
The goal of HOPES is to provide flexible, community-based programs to support families with young children 0-5 years of age to overcome any barriers they might be facing.
Services include: Parenting Education, Case Management, Transportation, Basic Needs Support, Crisis Intervention, Counseling, Parent Support Groups, Parent Leadership
Fatherhood EFFECT: Educating Fathers for Empowering Children Tomorrow
Fatherhood EFFECT is a parenting education course that uses the 24/7 Dad Curriculum, which teaches the characteristics of a good father, like masculinity, discipline and work-family balance. Find out how to resolve conflict and improve communication in your family, improve your child’s behavior problems, deal with complicated emotions, and overcome issues of aggression, alcohol or violence.
TWC: Texas Workforce Commission
Texas Workforce Commission assists former and current foster youth ages 16 to 25 who are seeking assistance with completing their GED or searching for employment. All youth are assigned a Workforce Advocate and Case Manager to help youth polish resumes, apply for jobs and obtain proper work attire to be successful in the working field.
